New World Review is currently looking for writers to contribute to the following sections:

FEATURES (800-1200 words): Can be about anything related to Travel, Food, or Drink in Latin America. Just something unique and something only you could can write. It can be a first person tale about a culinary tour in Patagonia or an interview with a Venezuelan chef.

RECIPES (word count varies): This is what we are in the biggest need for. I’m open to all sorts of ideas, they just have to be original and somehow related to Latin American food. Ideas that have a bit of historical context or some sort of interesting background. Just the recipes themselves are not enough. The less general the better.

EL MERCADO (400-600 words): Been to any good markets in Latin America or the Caribbean lately? I’m always looking for writeups of new markets with regional ingredients, food stalls, and lots of local flavor. Includes a basic outline of a local market: what to eat, what kind of produce is there, what makes it unique from every other market.

FIND (300-500 words): Very open on this. Any sort of unique discovery relating to Latin America: a product, small restaurant, spice, cooking tool, etc.

MEDIA (300-500 words): Reviews/write ups of movies, albums, concerts, or books about Latin America.

FOOD FINDS (200-400 words): This category details small unique food items from around Latin America and the Caribbean such as ingredients, spices, food stalls, a plate at inexpensive restaurants, street snacks, soft drinks, mass produced goods, etc.

BITES (200-400 words): This is basically the news column. A rehash of something in the news about Latin America. Could be the summary of an article that was written in the New York Times, a restaurant opening, or the announcement of a book release.

*All articles need 1-3 images to go along with the text. If you don’t have any don’t give up. I may have some.

TO SUBMIT: I prefer being sent a short query to nicholasgill [AT] gmail DOT com, rather than a completed submission. It can be just a paragraph summary with a brief bio.
